People people!!
Summimasen, everyone.. (Sorry in Japanese?)
It have been a while since the last time i blog. Hurmmphh... 3 months? LOL!!
Here's some important highlights. Read more to see more description on each:
Lots people have asked me, "Ehh, when getting your own DSLR larh?" Then, I answered, "No money marh. You sponsor me larh."
Hmm.. Been doing my survey since August. Then heard bout the EOS 60D rumour lah. Price drop lah. Load of craps that didn't happen in the end.
At that time, I was having hard time in choosingNikon D90 with 18-105mm kit lens, Canon EOS40D with 18-55mm kit lens. Didnt go for EOS50D because read lots review from the internet that don't really worth to spend the extra money to go for EOS50D. Some people claimed EOS40D is even better than EOS50D. Ahh... Bla Bla Bla.. Who cares?
Then, I finally decided to buy a EOS40D student package offered byCanon EOS Pro Center, Berjaya Time Square. The student offer was since March09. At that time, a whole group friend of mine went to buy the students packages offered, consisting of EOS1000D, EOS450D and EOS40D. The price was slightly cheaper, and yet they give more free gifts.
I was kinda worry that the student offer have ended. Try to call Mr Wong, person in charged of this student package. And hell yes, it's still available. From the quotation I got from INTI Photography Club, EOS40D with 18-55mm IS kit lens was Rm3250 with a Canon genuine bag (laukiap one larh~), DigiEye TR38 Tripod, UV Filter, LCD Protector, so called EOS Training worth Rm199 and two books Canon EOS40D User Manual and Canon 21-day Guide to Digital SLR Photography. A package that you couldn't get at other shops.
When I call him to ask him to reserve one for me, he told, "The 18-55mm IS kit lens is not available anymore lerh. Nvm. I can make up a EF 50mm f/1.8 prime lens for you." Then, I quickly seek for friend's advice whether worth it or not. Most of them claimed don't worth it, since the 18-55mm kit lens has higher value than the prime lens, although there're people selling used 18-55m kit lens for Rm300. A new prime lens worth Rm300, fyi.
Then, I got no choice, still went toCanon EOS Pro Center to buy. When I reach there, Mr Wong went out and an old auntie served us. I told I came to buy the package. When she took out all the things, she didn't know that I was offered the prime lens, not the 18-55mm kit lens. But she took out from the cabinet. Then, she called to confirm and she was told the package offered to me. i quickly stop her from keeping the 18-55mm IS kit lens and told her I will take it since they have stock for it. Ha! Gotcha! Stupid Mr Wong try to con me ar! Damn you!
I thought I was damn lucky that the old auntie took the lens out. Then, dunno why, I didn't check the camera at the first place and went to withdraw money. May be I was too excited to buy it. Left my sister in the shop btw. When I came back, saw my sister filling in the details on to warranty card already. Bad mistake!
I asked the auntie, "Miss XXX, no need to test ar?" Then, she quickly replied, "Owh. We always keep the camera in the cabinet one. We don't take it out one. It's new. You bring it home, charge 3 hours and test it." I was speechless that time. Paid the money and went back.
Was darn happy that I finally owned a DLSR. Took photos of my camera with charging the battery. Here's some photo taken with my IXUS 950 IS:

Some close up photos.
My lens looks long frm this angle, right?
Still a 18-55mm IS kit lens ler. Sob!
The famous Canon Error 99
Was kinda pissed off that time.
Simply took a photo of it.

Talking bout 50D babe. Here's a joke. Brief you a little. I put my MSN personal message as "Can't wait for my 50D babe to find me. " Then, there's ahamsap gatal friend message me and ask bout my 50D babe. Here goes:

Oh yeah. To sum up, if you accidentally bought an Error99 / faulty camera, need not to scare. Know your rights as a customer, demand for an exchange. For my case, it's slightly different lah. You can't use a faulty 1000D to demand for 1Ds Mark III, right? If there's no hope for getting a proper service from them, file a case to Consumer Tribunal, get full refund and Nikon the Dark Forces welcomes you.
I also went and buy E Way's prime for Rm230 with Hoya UV filter and Hoya +3 Magnification glass. Heard it's pretty nice combo to do macro, when paired up with Raynox. Should be cheap enough to buy. Can't find any cheaper ones at forum.
Going to update my Gears list already. =)
(2) Having my internship at ON Semiconductor.
Yes. Started my internship at ON Semiconductor at September. Ending soon right at this month.
Hmm.. What should I say about my working life at ON Semi. Hmmm.. Not bad and not too good. Sighs.. Basically my main job is to come out with a database that covers all the testing information, like the application board used, loadboard used, socket used, cable and connectors etc. Oh yeah. My department is SOSM (Small Outline Surface Mount) a.k.a Final Test. As the name suggests, we do the last testing on the devices' functionality before shipping them out to customers.
While I do my database, my routine jobs covers vision record at Production Line, yield tread compilation and analyzing, customer reject verification. Not going to talk much on it. Skip! Skip! Skip!!
Here's a photo of my supervisor, Mr Sim Jian You:

Well. He's just 25 years old. Joined the company 2 years back and sadly he's leaving already. Photo taken at his farewell lunch recently, 13th November at Secret Recipe. Well.. He sure is a super cool supervisor / boss I ever had. He taught me lots of things, whether in technical or in personality. Here's an interesting conversation with him:
People:
G - Gilbert,
JY - My supervisor,
OH - Mr. Oil Hair (Ignore Chow Yun Fatt's face)
G: 你看那个人!! 油头叻!! (Ehh, you see his hair. Oil Hair lerh!)
JY: 不要酱讲.人家是发质好,头发有光泽. (Don't say in that way. People's having healthy hair, shiny hair)
G: - Laughing like hell. -
OH: - Walk past -
From the conversation above, I knew he's teasing the guy also. But he's way funnier than mine. LOL! But, suddenly I realized, if we people were to think positive like what JY 'did', will the world turn out to be better than what we're having now?
Okay. Lemme throw in more pictures related to working life here:
We're supposed to wear this SCR shoes in factory.
To cleanness and also to avoid unwanted statics.
Here's my place at office.

13th November. The last day of my supervisor working in ON Semi. We had a farewell, lunch at the same time at Secret Recipe. Brought along my 50D with 18-55mm kit lens to snap photos. Tried to used Aperture Priority at first. But the photos are so ugly and dark. So, attempted to play with Manual Mode. Auto White Balance, Auto ISO, Lowest Aperture (in range of f/3.5-5.6), 1/20-1/30 shutter speed. Kinda like the photos I took. Let the photos do the talking from this point onwards:

Didn't want to on my camera that night. Was thinking to hold my 'fun' to the next day. Then, the next day, my classmates and I went to go to a night market, not far from my house. Rushed home to take 40D, slot in the battery, test shot #1, okay. Test shot #2.......
The Was kinda pissed off that time.
Simply took a photo of it.
I followed the instruction shown. Yet, the Error99 repeats again and again. When you full press the shutter button, the shutter will close and freezes for a certain period then it opens again (eventhough you set the shutter speed to be 1/200 secs). When you open the gallery, there's no photo saved. One friend of mine had this problem too. But she's using EOS1000D. Before I buy, I was thinking, may be it is a common problem for 1000D only. Who knows I'm the lucky person to win this 'Error99' lotery. Oh gaaaaawsh.. Btw, the flash is faulty also. I get weird photos when pop up flash is fired. See below:

Everything is dark except the bottom of the photo.
One straight line. Weird..
Quickly called Mr Wong, complained and demanded for a 1-to-1 exchange, since it's just 1 day old. Guess what? That arsehole told, he couldn't allow me to exchange since I had filled in the warranty card. Then, I was like, "What the fark you're talking oh? What cork is it?" He asked me to go their shop, pass it to them and they will give me a 400D to use while fixing. He didn't tell it's a 400D, heard from my friend decades ago. My friend told me, although she had sent hers 3 times with the same Error99 complain, the problem occurs again after somtime. Hell no! No way I going to be like her.
I called Canon Shah Alam the next day. Told her bout my situation, complained to them that the people atCanon EOS Pro Center sucks big time and told her to assist me, will not want to talk / deal with them anymore. Then, she say can exchange a new body but then they do not have stocks for 40D anymore. 40D are discountinued for quite sometime already. Then she asked me to top up Rm700 to get a 50D. Slightly cheaper than market price, I would say. I mean S-L-I-G-H-T-L-Y only, alright?
Went to seek for my fellow forum friends' advice. Majority of them told Rm700 wasbullshit ridiculous, and asked me to shout at her and demand for free exchange instead. Didn't have guts to demand for free exchange that time. I'm not the fierce kind of person summore. Sighs.
Then, I tried to ask the senior members of Lowyat forum to help me to come out with a email. Then, one of them told he's going to meet Canon Malaysia's Assistant Director, Simon Wong the next day. He talked to Simon Wong during lunch time and Simon told he will look into this matter.
Was keeping my fingers crossed that time. Waited and waited. Yet, there's no news from Canon. My forum friend couldn't do anything either. Was bugging him quite often that time.
Went a little impatient that time. Tried to find other Canon staff to contact with. Finally found a lady marketing officer and start mailing her. She told she will do something. And another waiting session for me, AGAIN!! Sighs.
Then she emailed me at Monday and told there's will be a person calling me at that afternoon. Waited whole day and no one called. Was so pissed off that time. Felt like being cheated and not treated seriously. My colleague, KF Lim even taught how to scold them, if they call at the next day.
I received the mysterious call the next day. Then it was Mr Simon Wong!! Oh my.. Was thinking to do what KF taught me. After short consideration, I choose to tell to him nicely. Like usual, he asked what happened etc etc. Told him everything from A to Z. Told him try to do something for me, with a super polite tone. Then, he told he will see what he can do about it. He's a nice guy and yet gentle person. Thumbs up for him, in my blog.
The next day, I received email from the lady that with approval from Simon Wong, I'm eligible for 50D exchange with cost. Hoooooooooooooray. Banzai, Mr Simon Wong. Was so excited to wait for my 50D to be sent to their Seremban branch that time. I'm guessing the 2 "arsehole"es will be getting scolding from Simon Wong? Haha. Don't know plus don't care. Who gives a damn bout them? They should thank me, at least I didn't file a case to Consumer Tribunal.
I waited another 2 weeks, not receiving any news that the camera had reached Seremban branch. Lost my temper again. Well.. It's not that I'm Incredible Hulk who couldn't contol his anger and turn rage. Try imagine, you have been waiting and waiting for 2 months and yet your problem still not fully solved. How will you feel? I would say I was too desperate to get what I deserved.
Called the Head of Technician, and raised my tone, questioned him why they are taking so long to send a camera. Questioned him how long they plan to delay me again etc. Then, the Head of Technician also raised his voice and told he knew nothing, only receive a CC. Was kinda surprised and scared that time. Then, slowly lower down my tone and told him to speed up the process. He also lower down. It ended with we two apologizing to each other, then hung up. LOL! You see larh! Told you I sucked at scolding people.
Took another 1 or 2 days. Then received email at 11 November that my camera have reached Seremban. Took all 40D box to work and went to Canon's Seremban branch, Simplex Marketing, located at Kemayan Square. Tested my new 50D for quite long there. Didn't want to have any nightmares anymore.
Here's some photos of my new 50D babe:
